About the Job

What you will do:

The Sensor Engineering Team at Johnson Controls is responsible for a vast array of products with a multitude of configurations.  This test engineering position is for a self-motivated individual that will contribute to new product development.  Work will include active engagement from the development of the product requirements and design, through the completion of system test and field trials.  An emphasis will be placed on test automation to facilitate regression testing on periodic firmware builds.  The end goal is to help ensure high quality products are delivered by the team.

For each project, the role of this position includes:

  • Analyze product and system requirements, and provide feedback on testability

  • Develop test plans to verify that products meet their requirements

  • Develop test cases and maintain test case traceability to requirements

  • Design and build test stations that will support both manual and automated test cases

  • Execute test plans, and document results in test reports

  • Conduct regular meetings with the firmware team to review test findings and defects that have been logged

  • Support investigation and analysis efforts for field reported issues

How you will do it:

The selected candidate will be capable of working with minimal direction in a collaborative environment with engineering and field personnel.  This role requires interaction with personnel that may be internal and/or external to Johnson Controls, thus requiring good written and verbal communication skills.  This position also requires the ability to multitask, and to work effectively in response to changing priorities.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline

  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience as a test engineer

  • Experience automating tests with scripting languages, and using modern automated test frameworks

  • Experience with network-based product architectures, including wired and wireless networks

  • Ability to work both collaboratively with teammates, and independently with minimal direction

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with HP Quality Center, HP Quick Test Pro, Python, and Visual Basic

  • Experience with GIThub is a plus

  • Experience with electronic test equipment including multi-meters and oscilloscopes

  • BACnet and wireless communications experience is a plus
