Senior Test Engineer

Primary Duties: Trimble is seeking an enthusiastic and creative, mid or senior level Test Engineer. This position entails hardware, certification and firmware testing of products used for an in-vehicle device for tracking and mobile asset management purposes. These devices depend on a broad range of wireless communication protocols to accomplish their tasks.

You will be functioning as a member of a cross disciplinary team, and previous exposure to elements of embedded hardware design will be a strong plus. Minimum of BS degree in EE, or a related field with 5+ years hands-on experience is required. Preference will be given to those applicants who demonstrate the ability to function well as a team member. In the initial employment phase the candidate has to be prepared to spend a significant time traveling to and staying at other company R&D locations.

Required Skills: - Experience writing and executing test plans for Hardware and Firmware testing. Writing test reports - Design & Develop test fixtures for HW & FW functional DV testing & debugging, meticulous record keeping - Testing and debug products for FCC, CE, Cellular Approval, EMI & EMC compliance etc - Familiar with Schematics capture and layout review tools. Participate in design review - Experience with standard development equipment such as oscilloscopes, protocol and spectrum analyzers, IDE’s - Excellent problem solving skills & passion for HW testing and product quality - Ability to use Lab equipment for troubles shooting, familiar with lab supplies, RF cablings and shielding - Components selection/evaluation, board modifications, technologies evaluation and prototype for proof of concepts - Highly motivated, self-starter and have the ability to work on multiple tasks efficiently in a tight schedule - Ability to travel (domestic or international) 10-15% of the time Desired Skills: - MS degree in EE or knowledge in embedded hardware design a plus - Be able to write test script for test automation (Labview, etc) a plus - Familiar with board manufacture procedure and interface a plus - An understanding of IP routing and embedded Wireless LAN integration (802.11)
