Job Summary: Provide both internal and external technical expertise and direction on the advancement of toxicology and public health in the green marketplace. Leads the investigation and the feasibility of new product testing standards by applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to products and systems. Maintains and develops extensive scientific knowledge of current and new technologies related to toxicology of new products, as well as current needs and trends. Position required to research changing technologies in the field by reading journals and scientific publications, attending academic conferences, writing and collaborating on original publications, and delivering presentations on scientific topics. Job Responsibility: 1. Provides technical leadership, guidance to staff, hazard and risk-based information on a wide range of products and substances and in a wide range of industries to assist in decision-making for standards and product certifications. 2. Leads the investigation and the feasibility of new product testing standards by applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to products and systems. 3. Maintains and develops extensive scientific knowledge of current and new technologies related to toxicology of new products, as well as current needs and trends. 4. Research changing technologies in the field by reading journals and scientific publications, attending academic conferences, writing and collaborating on original publications, and delivering presentations on scientific topics. 5. Provide training and seminars to both internal staff and external stakeholders. 6. May work as an environmental project manager, working directly with customers on their projects for sustainable product certification. Will lead the project through assessment, testing, and analysis and work closely with customers to ensure their needs are met. 7. Maintain detailed knowledge of state of the art toxicological risk assessment techniques 8. Position requires participation in standards development, industry standard technical committees and/or provide support to standard technical panels. 9. Other duties as directed. Required Skills: · University degree (equivalent to a Masters degree) in Toxicology or related science. PHD preferred. Minimum of eight years experience required in the Toxicology discipline. · Preference for experience working within a company on developing safer/more environmentally friendly products or working experience with a testing laboratory in this area. · Significant knowledge and expertise of chemistry and toxicology with the experience related to the green marketplace. · Significant knowledge of hazardous and toxic substances and their effects on the environment and human health. · Knowledge of exposure and risk assessment modeling a plus. · Knowledge of hazardous chemical lists and global regulations affecting substances. · You must be able to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience. · Excellent analytical skills. · Ability and willingness to make sound, scientific decisions in challenging environments.
