Position Summary:
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
We are looking for a technology oriented engineer to install and support our SANs and NetBackup Infrastructure. The successful candidate will be working in a team oriented, fast paced environment.
Design, administer and support storage solutions, including Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Networks (SAN), and enterprise disk subsystems.
Provide direct technical support for the planning, coordination, and implementation of releases, upgrades, or changes to storage systems and the range of products and productivity tools that support the testing and production of those storage systems.
Ensure stable performance for storage environments through performance monitoring and tuning
Perform operational support, ticketing, etc.
5+ years of relevant IBM storage experience.
Proficient with SPARC and Intel based servers running Solaris, Linux and Windows..
Experience with replication between data centers.
Experience with SAN fabrics and SVC technology.
Experience with Veritas Netbackup tape technology.
Experience with scripting to customize functionality of storage subsystems a plus.
Tapeless backup and backup encryption experience a plus.
Solid understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts, including the principles of network routing and client/server programming.
Highly motivated, energetic, thorough, detail-oriented, with ability to multi-task effectively.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to set and meet deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science
Minimum Experience for Consideration:
5 years UNIX systems administration experience in a multi-platform environment
Desirable:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with 5+ years UNIX systems administration experience in a multi-platform environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires experience in network administration, hardware maintenance, customer support, software licensing, purchasing, and maintenance contracts. Requires knowledge in TCPIP; NIS; NFS; DNS; Ethernet; Token Ring; Volume Manager; Solstice Desk Suite or Legato Networker; FLEXlm or other license manager; Sybase or other RDBMS; Sendmail; UNIX (Solaris SunOS, HP_UX, AIX, OSF1, IRIX, SCO, LINUX, etc.); Firewalls; Proxy servers; security; programming in C, C Shell, Bourne Shell, Korn Shell, and Perl; interaction of System and peripheral hardware with microcode, firmware, or Eproms; Operating System and device drivers. Experience in software development and knowledge of 1) development cycles, requirements, and sound engineering practices, and 2) configuration management and Quality Assurance processes a plus.
