Position Responsibilities:

·        Provide HP-UX 11.31, Solaris and Linux system administration to include, but not limited to:  Server build-out (rack, wire, component installs), installation and maintenance of the OS (Solaris and Red Hat Linux), performance tuning, security tuning, disk management, problem analysis and resolution

·        Software installation, administration and support for various software applications, such as WebLogic Server, Interwoven TeamSite and OpenDeploy,  SunONE webserver, Ultraseek Search, CVS.

·        Determine infrastructure requirements for business projects, design the physical topology of the system and execute on the purchases of the required “parts list”.

·        Coordinate and direct work efforts for other staff and vendors within, as well as external to the division (e.g., hardware/software vendors, internal support groups, application programmers) to include project planning, estimating, status reporting and quality oversight of delegated work. 

·        Function as primary technical contact for system problems. Perform necessary problem troubleshooting, escalation, resolution, and reporting activities.

·        Provide regular reporting regarding usage, resources, problems, changes, and other production statistics. Recommend and implement infrastructure changes as needed to satisfy service level requirements.

·        Recommend and perform routine monitoring/checks of software, security, operations, procedures, and patches.

·        Provide recommendations on technology direction to align with business vision.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent work experience.


• 6-8 years of UNIX administration an enterprise environment.
  Exceptional technical knowledge and proficiency in HP-UX.


• 2-3 years hands-on experience with deploying on WebLogic;  including application server administration is desired.


• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills specific to both technical and business audiences.


• Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.


• Must be able to work effectively under pressure either independently or as a member of a team.
