Senior Water Resources Professional Engineer

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.

Experience: 10+ years, with expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, floodplain delineation and project management.

5+ years of recent experience in FEMA floodplain mapping and National Flood Insurance Program expertise is required.

Certifications: Professional Engineer with ability to obtain PE in New Mexico and Texas within fist six months of employment. Certified Floodplain Manager certification is required within first year of employment.

Ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, takes ownership of tasks, follows tasks through to completion, has good communication, and has a high attention to serving clients, providing quality work products and meeting schedule.

Software requirements: Minimum software skills include Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project (or equivalent scheduling software), AutoCAD or Microstation, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS. Additional software skills considered a plus are WISE, FLO-2D, NFF, PeakFQ, CheckRAS, GeoRAS, GeoHMS, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster, StormCAD, and PondPack.

The Albuquerque office has worked on exciting projects for FEMA providing floodplain mapping, hazard analysis, mitigation & planning, and disaster support in New Mexico, Texas, California, Nevada, Colorado and Louisiana.

This position is for a technical expert with responsibilities to focus on the preparation of complex technical assignments supporting the URS FEMA practice, and to further advance the company's floodplain and stormwater management practice.

The candidate will:

- Provide expert technical services to support FEMA including:
* Perform advanced H&H modeling (i.e., WISE, Flo 2D, etc.)
* Perform technical reviews of advanced H&H models submitted to FEMA
* Conduct benefit/cost analysis of flood mitigation projects
* Provide guidance regarding FEMA's Guidelines and Specifications for Flood Hazard Mapping Partners;

- Manage task orders or projects for the group;

- Conduct GIS-based watershed modeling to establish flows for selected recurrence interval events;

- Support development of staff by training and mentoring junior staff;

- Provide expert hydrologic and hydraulic modeling expertise;

- Support other groups such as transportation and stormwater services in design and production of plans; and

- Support marketing efforts.

Successful candidate will function as a technical expert and help mentor staff for the Risk Assessment, Planning, and Production (RAPP) Group. The candidate will have daily communication with the RAPP Engineering Team Leader and the RAPP Group Leader and report directly to the RAPP Group Leader. Candidate will be key in decision making and developing and implementing new methodologies for increased efficiency.
