Senior Web Designer
About the Job
The Senior Web Designer is responsible for contributing to the vision and then executing and maintaining the overall design of Online Buddies’ web properties and marketing campaigns, ensuring a compelling look and feel that meets branding, business and user requirements. This includes all phases of the design process: conceptual design/development, graphic design, interface design and art production.
The Senior Web Designer will work closely with the product, marketing and technical teams to establish and maintain visual integrity, user experience, brand standards, and consistency. The candidate must have a strong sense of effective web design and a passion for simple, elegant, user-centered design principles. This position requires strong attention to detail, and organization and time management skills are critical.

The Senior Web Designer will work closely with the product, marketing and technical teams to establish and maintain visual integrity, user experience, brand standards, and consistency. The candidate must have a strong sense of effective web design and a passion for simple, elegant, user-centered design principles. This position requires strong attention to detail, and organization and time management skills are critical.
Responsibilities:
- Further the user experience toward a cohesive unified vision through hands-on design, having a critical eye toward developing a consistent product
- Interface with key internal stakeholders to ensure the user experience reflects customer needs
- Translate business requirements into design concepts and see projects through to completion, while maintaining a high level of accuracy, consistency and efficiency
- Develop and maintain UI, graphic design, and interaction specifications/guidelines
- Adapt creative styles as needed while maintaining creative, technical, and brand standards throughout the site
- Develop expert-level knowledge of competitive and complementary products/experiences and bring new ideas to the team.
- Manage creative projects effectively while maintaining priorities, deadlines and deliverables as set by Chief Marketing Officer.
- Provide creative direction to graphic design team
Education and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts, interaction design, or a design-related field
- 4-6 years experience designing consumer-oriented web-based interfaces in front-end web design and development
Skills and Competencies:
- Expert proficiency in electronic design techniques using both Mac and PC platforms in the latest versions of graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Dreamweaver
- Understanding of motion design and the strengths and limitations of web technologies: HTML, XHTML, DHTML, CSS, Flash, Ajax, Flex, and other emerging platforms
- Experience with back-end development technologies (PHP, MySQL, AJAX, Ruby on Rails, Javascript)
- Strong visual style and thorough understanding of how typography, layout, color, images, and interactivity impact design
- Knowledge of user-centered design principles, web design best practices, branding, positioning, and marketing
