Energetics is accepting applications for a Web Developer (5029) to work in our Columbia, MD location. Job Description and Responsibilities - Work on a variety of web projects, including web-based applications, database-backed websites, basic website updates and website layout enhancements. - Participate in architecture design processes to meet client requirements. - Develop web pages utilizing industry standard techniques. - Review, analyze and modify web systems, including documenting, designing, developing, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, monitoring, and maintaining. - Install or customize modules and features for open source and proprietary software packages. - Assess new standards, technologies and trends, and formulate strategies and plans for future enhancement of web sites. - Participate in review and staff meetings concerning projects. Qualifications Required - Project management skills - Ability to effectively manage time and schedules, including the ability to multitask and work on several projects simultaneously - Strategic planning skills - Ability to work independently and as a member of a team - Experience working in a government contracting environment - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse groups - Knowledge and understanding of current authoring languages and standards, editing and authoring tools, and related website technologies - Ability to evaluate current and emerging website technologies - Knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, hand-coding, web page creation, and web site maintenance (2+ years of experience preferred) - Knowledge of programming languages, including SQL, ASP, ASP.NET and JavaScript (2+ years of experience preferred) - Knowledge of database systems and database frameworks, including SQL, ODBC and ADO, and relational database design (2+ years of experience preferred) - Knowledge of Microsoft IIS web servers (2+ years of experience preferred) - Knowledge of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 is a plus

The selected candidate’s primary duties will be to assist the web development team with designing and developing web-based applications for internal and external clients. Other duties may include:
Education/Experience: The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree in a computer-related field (computer science/programming). Other academic backgrounds will be considered if candidates can demonstrate sufficient technical aptitude. Potential candidates are preferred to have at least 3 years of experience as a web developer.
