About the Job
Resource will serve as a key component in the SharePoint Center of Excellence and Enablement group assisting in providing education to project teams in SharePoint usability and providing feature guidance where necessary. Resource will be responsible for Administration of the Corporate Systems SharePoint platform which includes, but is not limited to, backup and recovery policies and execution, environment maintenance (patches), archiving policies and execution, document management and governance policies and execution, MOSS related deployments and support. Resource will also assist in the review, testing, implementation, and support of customization options and future direction of complimentary & competitive software solutions where required.
Responsible for participating in SharePoint enablement and center of excellence related activities which includes, but is not limited to, evangelism of MOSS/SharePoint features across the business.
Responsible for creating and executing on backup and recovery policies. Ensures nightly MOSS site backups are set up and executing.
Responsible for MOSS platform which includes but is not limited to, installing and manipulating web parts, inventory and maintenance of farm features, creating and maintaining BDC connections, maintaining shared service providers and ensuring environmental support for InfoPath forms and Excel Services.
Responsible for creating and ensuring document management, governance and best practice policies are followed
Responsible for MOSS environment maintenance which includes ensuring all platforms (Dev, Stg, Prod) are up to date on hot fixes and latest cumulative patches released by Microsoft.
Responsible for MOSS related deployments, systematically cloning system changes to ensure consistency across all pre-production and production systems and maintenance of existing MOSS applications.
Responsible for troubleshooting functional and technical issues with existing applications, scripting of site move requests, evaluation of 3rd party software packages and other generic MOSS related questions where needed.
Solicit functionality requirements from business partners and translating into functional and technical specifications.
Contributes to the group development through presentations, demonstrations and mentoring of other team members
Takes the initiative to learn new technologies without requiring significant assistance from others.
Create system and user documentation, test software, and perform other tasks needed to complete projects.
Coordinate design review activities with other team members to ensure applications adhere to the standards and structure developed for the organization.
Provide manager with project completion estimates and periodic status updates.
Provides accurate and comprehensive Level of Effort estimates and ability to effectively document SharePoint architectures.
Proactive in solving problems and takes ownership of tasks.
Able to manage entire life cycle of some of his/her own projects.
Understands and can readily communicate/document business processes
Required Skills:
Education
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Experience
Ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of Administration experience with SharePoint/MOSS and a mix of the following technologies; Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), JavaScript, Extended Markup Language (XML), Structured Query Language (SQL), Microsoft SQL Server (2000, 2005), C# .NET
Experience creating STSADM scripts using notepad or Power Shell
Experience creating and maintaining scheduled SharePoint maintenance tasks.
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, with both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to troubleshoot effectively
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work independently and/or part of a team
Utilize business savvy and abstract thinking to interact & coordinate with business units.
