Leading manufacturing company in Western CT is looking for a hands-on, performance driven Shipping & Receiving Manager.

DESCRIPTION:

The Shipping/Receiving Manager will perform physical and administrative tasks involved in the receipt and distribution of all materials, including company courier duties, delivery, pick-up and packaging of outbound freight.  The position oversees receiving of all incoming goods and ensures all relevant information is kept up to date on our MRP system.  Ensures proper packaging and shipping of products to meet or exceed customers’ delivery requirements.  Oversees inventory control of stock room, raw materials and purchased components.  Continually monitors the department’s overall performance and maintains the highest quality and safety standards.  The manager will participate in personnel actions with human resources and oversee day-to-day operations of the group.  This is a “hands-on” position where interaction on the floor to assist and direct others is a must.  All managers and supervisors actively participate in doing whatever is necessary to maintain the highest quality standards and on-time shipping percentage in the industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

§         Supervising employees.

§         Negotiates common carrier shipping terms, arranging all shipping for both truckload and LTL freight.

§         Set-up and schedule trucks both daily and per forecasted requirements. 

§         Initiate Contract Truck RFQ’s for bulk shipments and provide details to management.

§         Coordinates all receiving as required.

§         Maintain up-to-date inventory records and backorder report.

§         Coordinate shipping schedule to maximize receiving efficiency and minimize backorders.

§         Manage and monitor vehicle performance, maintenance and repair.

§         Establish and maintain professional and productive relationships with customers and employees.

§         Follow HAZMAT DOT shipment regulations as required.

§         Oversee efficient workflow to ensure on time shipping.

§         Maintain packing and shipping supply inventory.

§         Maintain all necessary training certifications as required (IATA, HAZMAT etc.).

§         Inventory control including stock room, raw material and purchased components.  Insure the proper issuance and accountability of said areas.

REQUIREMENTS:

§         5+ years in a supervisory role.

§         Thorough understanding of shipping/receiving guidelines for LTL and Truckload.

§         Knowledge of import and export Regulations.

§         Working knowledge in DOT regulations a plus.

§         Strong analytical and math skills.

§         Knowledge of Fourth Shift or understanding of MRP systems a must.

§         Able to work independently as well as collaboratively.

§         Forklift and crane operation experience a plus.
