Purpose: To perform any support / process duties associated with the continuous manufacture of Merial vaccines.
Dependent on the production requirements, a Supervisor will perform and coordinate with other groups and supervise the activities associated with the preparation of viral vaccine components.
Major Responsibilities:
Planning/Processing (55%)
• Performs Daily Scheduling Meeting (Team)
• Checks Weekly schedule and proposes modifications based on the feasibility of the schedules
• Ensures that all Procedures in the area are correct and adhered to by the team.
• Maintains a safe, clean and organized work environment.
• Prepares Daily activity scheduling boards and communicates schedule to teams.
• Reviews Fill KanBan Audit DC and ensure that production requirements are being captured.
• Coordinate Daily needs and coordinate among supervisor peers to adjust resources as needed.
• Participate in Lab activities if required
• Schedule PME activities as required
• Strictly adhere to the Supervisor Lean Activity schedule.
Communication (15%)
• Communicate unmet needs for processing resources to Small Volume Manager.
• Communicates progress several times a day to the Small Volume Manager.
• Communicates at the time of event any process occurrences to Manager (escalation process).
• Performs daily review meeting
• Communicate production problems using NOPP forms
• Communicate Production Deviations using CQA-DC-002
Assessment (15%)
• Anticipate material needs (seals, vials, stoppers, waste drums, etc.), inform Small Volume Manager of needs not met.
• Monitors process against manufacturing records; data capture forms and Standard Operating Procedures and makes any needed modifications.
• Produce and maintain Checklist for adherence to Lean Policies.
• Audit Teams for compliance with QA policies and BPR Procedures and Best Practices
• Reviews documentation package for correctness.
• Trains/coaches/teaches new and existing employees to obtain required skills.
• Performs robust Root Cause Analysis and implements actions from analysis
• Coordinates and performs Problem Solving Methodology
• Provides needs definition, etc. for new equipment and Projects.
Systems (15%)
• Ensures proper use of change control procedure.
• Files planned / unplanned deviations as required.
• Ensure that Raw material consumption is accurately captured on Batch tickets.
• Ensure that all Manufacturing records and Batch tickets are turned in on time.
• Ensure that All samples are submitted to QCD properly and on-time.
• Review submitted work orders to repair/maintain equipment.
• Provides Small Volume Manager with confirmed (signed) DSTS training sheets
• Provides Goals, and Performs Quarterly and Yearly reviews for technicians
• Proposes, champions and implements continuous process improvements leading to cost savings or quality improvements.
• Participates and coordinates with PTS to ensure Process improvements are implemented in a correct and timely manner.
Safety Objectives:
Demonstrates a commitment to the HSE Program. Works in a safe, responsible manner. Supports safety policies and procedures. Identifies & properly reports unsafe work habits, conditions, &/or practices.
Will conduct workplace risk analysis.
This position may require the handling, storing, and managing of hazardous waste and this employee shall comply with all applicable state and federal laws. This person must successfully complete the hazardous waste management training program within six months of their employment or assignment should this be the case. Such an employee must not work in unsupervised positions until they have successfully completed the hazardous waste management training requirements, and must take part in an annual review in addition to the initial training. This training program includes classroom instruction and on-the-job training to ensure they perform their duties in compliance with the requirements of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act,(RCRA). The Merial hazardous waste management-training program includes all the following elements:
All departmental managers and supervisors shall successfully complete training in hazardous waste management, and shall provide hazardous waste management training to his or her department’s personnel. Supervisors and managers will ensure that original documentation of such training shall be placed in the employee file located in the Human Resources Department (HRD) and with a copy of the training documentation submitted to the Health, Safety, and Environmental Department (HSE).
The training program includes hazardous waste management procedures, which instructs facility personnel hazardous waste management procedures (including contingency plan implementation) relevant to the positions in which they are employed.
At a minimum, the training program is designed to ensure that facility personnel are able to respond effectively to emergencies by familiarizing them with emergency procedures, emergency equipment, and other emergency systems, where applicable.
Knowledge and Skills:
Required:
3 to 5 years experience working within a manufacturing environment
BS degree in a related field (biological or engineering)
Have mechanical knowledge and or skills.
Extensive computer skills for developing database
Demonstrated leadership skills
Effective communication skills (verbal / written)
