Role Summary/Purpose The Smart Grid Software Infrastructure Development Engineers will be responsible for developing product quality software for the Smart Grid Software Service Infrastructure. The software engineers will report to assigned subsystem team leaders and be directly responsible multiple tasks for the assigned subsystems.
Essential Responsibilities Work with assigned subsystem systems engineers to develop assigned software development activities in a timely manner with a very high degree of quality. Demonstrate excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills Stay abreast with current & emerging software technologies & vertical industry needs Be able to adapt to changing system and product requirements Some of the subsystems will require very close working relationship and co-development activities with peer product development groups in GE Energy Services Engineering and other cross-businesses
Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information systems OR high school diploma/GED and a minimum 7 years industry experienceMinimum 6 years software development experienceMinimum 4 years Java software development experience Additional Eligibility Qualifications For U.S. employment opportunities, GE hires U.S. citizens, permanent residents, asylees, refugees, and temporary residents. Temporary residence does not include those with non-immigrant work authorization (F, J, H or L visas), such as students in practical training status. Exceptions to these requirements will be determined based on shortage of qualified candidates with a particular skill. GE will require proof of work authorization.
