Role Summary/Purpose
The Smart Grid Software Infrastructure Development Engineers will be responsible for developing product quality software for the Smart Grid Software Service Infrastructure. The software engineers will report to assigned subsystem team leaders and be directly responsible multiple tasks for the assigned subsystems.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Work with assigned subsystem systems engineers to develop assigned software development activities in a timely manner with a very high degree of quality.
  • Demonstrate excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Stay abreast with current & emerging software technologies & vertical industry needs
  • Be able to adapt to changing system and product requirements
  • Some of the subsystems will require very close working relationship and co-development activities with peer product development groups in GE Energy Services Engineering and other cross-businesses

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information systems OR high school diploma/GED and a minimum 7 years industry experience
  • Minimum 6 years software development experience
  • Minimum 4 years Java software development experience

    Desired Characteristics
  • Masters degree in Computer Science
  • Working knowledge and experience in the complete life cycle of large scale software development programs, and have superb software development (programming) skills
  • Able to quickly learn and apply new software technologies, products, and solutions to very aggressive prototype schedules
  • Able to complete required development tasks following a variety of development process methodologies (waterfall though agile) with limited supervision and demonstrate outstanding growth traits
  • Strong demonstrated analytical, computer, speaking, writing, presentation, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding software development skills
  • Demonstrated competency developing and managing software products
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in large scale Java software technologies
  • Working knowledge and experience Microsoft .Net using C# and/or VB.Net
  • Understanding and experience with T&D software systems
  • Experience in large scale enterprise software integration using middleware product solutions
  • Working knowledge in one or more of the following technologies: JBoss, JBoss Cache, Spring, Enterprise Service Buses, OSGi, LDAP, OWL, WSDL, Web ServicesWhy join one great company when you can join many?
