DESCRIPTION:
Duties: The Medical Research Assistant for the National Children's Study Vanguard Center is based in Duplin County, NC. The position will include coordinating medical outreach activities and provide data collection support for research nurses for the implementation of the National Children's Study (NCS) in Duplin County. This person will report to the NCS Medical Outreach Liaison based in Chapel Hill. He /she will manage supplies inventory, prepare biological specimens for shipment, prepare correspondence between providers and potential study participants, distribute and gather documents from health care providers in Duplin County, and document activities using the computer-based information system designed for the study and other tools developed by site staff. He/she will also coordinate appointments for study visits with English and Spanish-speaking participants and will serve as interpreter for Spanish-speaking participants on an as-needed basis. Being an effective team member is crucial to the success of the medical outreach component of the project.
Position/Work Schedule Requirements: M-F 830 – 500. Weekend or evening work occasionally. Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Qualified applicants will be bilingual or speak Spanish as a second language and will have a current North Carolina driver's license. Travel throughout Duplin County and in neighboring counties is required.
