Liberty Mutual's Information Technology Procurement Group is actively searching for a Software Compliance Manager. As a member of the IT Procurement team you'll be engaged in meaningful work for an organization that is committed to "helping people live safer, more secure lives" every day.
 
The Software Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring appropriate tools, techniques, and standards are utilized to maintain software compliance and compliance with our third party contracts, and assists in creating policy, guidelines, and procedures and communicate to all levels of the company. The position is responsible for ensuring software compliance and supporting the data integrity of the asset management system. Investigates and responds to daily inquiries regarding software compliance by serving as the central point of contact for issues, concerns and information distribution. In addition, the position assists in monitoring software deployments, ensuring software compliance within the respective area and assist in all software compliance projects and initiatives.
 
Responsibilities:

 


Responsible for enabling and monitoring overall software license and contract compliance  as further described below:


  • Conducts software license agreement reviews to determine license rights and obligations, reporting requirements and audit terms and communicates to appropriate internal resources. Works in conjunction with the Legal Department where necessary.

  • Ensures software registrations for all evaluation and open source software are reviewed, approved and appropriately registered.

  • Advises on the  the management of software and contract asset information in accordance with software license agreements and best practices, which includes data integrity and continuous updates of asset, custodian and end-user information into the contract and asset management systems.

  • Coordinates and manages interactions with Procurement and Contracts group including negotiation, supplier selection, requisitions/returns, upgrades, asset recovery program and terminations/refreshes.

  • Ensures policies, processes and procedures have been implemented by the responsible departments  throughout the company to address controls and risk mitigation related to software compliance.

  • Ensures compliance to industry standards, Federal, State and local laws where appropriate.  Make recommendations for software management based on such laws and regulations.

  • Assists with methodology design for new policies, implementations and future state policy and procedures in regard to the asset management program and inherent systems.

  • Assist with Asset Management initiatives and all projects relating to Software Compliance, including desktop and midrange platforms with a goal of mitigating compliance issues and an overall reduction in cost exposure and out of compliance instances. 

  • Introduces efficiencies and process improvements including identification of areas that can be automated and where possible maintained by operational areas.

  • Monitors internal software compliance reporting calendar to ensure reporting is completed to meet requires dates. 

  • Assists in facilitation of use of tools for reconciliation, audits, and monitoring of contract terms and conditions.

  • Assist with communications and training for all software compliance initiatives including but not limited to Software Compliance class and all other communications.  Where possible educate and train end users in software asset operations functions, practices, procedures, strategies and systems.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Juris Doctorate degree is preferred, but not required.

  • 5-7 years experience in software management, procurement or compliance or related area required.

  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards, federal, state and local laws.

  • Thorough understanding of how software impacts our ability to deliver service and responsibility to comply with applicable license agreements, contacts, law and regulations.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, interprets policy, and applies technical knowledge to varying needs.

  • Thorough knowledge of industry trends and ability to apply to Liberty Mutual environment.

  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills.

  • Highly developed facilitation, problem solving, decision making and consensus building skills.
