What You'll Do
 
At John Deere Decision Support Services, as a Software Design Engineer you will work on projects in the design, test driven development, training, and support of GIS data processing and decision support products for John Deere customers.  In addition you will:
 
  • Analyze assignments and determine engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for projects utilizing complex georeferenced data and projects involved with the agriculture value chain.
  • Work closely with the customer teams to determine their needs, clarify requirements, and take projects from concept through design and testing to completion.
  • Document system requirements, design, develop, code new or existing systems and test code with scripts and automated code coverage tools.
What It Takes
 
We need an excellent communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment.  Ideally you will have a BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or a minimum of three years of software development experience.  In addition we require:
  • Experience in all aspects of Software Development Life Cycle and production troubleshooting, particularly in the Microsoft .Net environment.
  • Experience in design and development of desktop applications using Visual Studio .NET, C# and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience in design and development of Graphical User Interfaces (GUI).
 
A strong candidate will also have an advanced degree in a Computer Science related discipline, Microsoft Certifications, GIS systems experience and a background in farming practices and farm equipment operation.
