As a developer at ZS, you’ll take products from their earliest conceptual phases all the way through development and testing and ultimately to release and deployment. Along the way, you’ll have a chance to make really significant design decisions about the software you develop—nothing will stop you from creating the best software you can.           

About the team:
The software development group at ZS is a bright, friendly, and intense group of about 45 people located in Evanston, IL. We work directly with our consulting staff and clients, and this gives us very broad exposure to a wide range of business issues. We believe in involving developers throughout a product’s entire lifecycle, so SDs also become skilled in all aspects of professional software development.

Software plays a pivotal role in the company’s success, so software developers are at the center of many of ZS’s most important research and development efforts. This importance is reflected in the career path, which goes all the way to the most senior level at the company (Principal).

What are we looking for?
Significant software development experience. Every person in our group (even the manager types) writes plenty of code. We will happily train you on the languages and tools we use, but you need to be able to demonstrate that you can produce solid software first.

Excellent communication skills. Software developers at ZS don’t implement somebody else’s specs; they understand the business problem in detail and help design all aspects of the software from the ground up.

Bachelor or Master degree with a major in computer science, a physical science, engineering, mathematics, economics or another discipline with a strong quantitative focus, as well as a strong academic record (GPA of 3.3/4.0 or higher).

Strong drive to write great software.
