Tactel, a leading supplier of professional mobile software developers, is seeking multimedia Software Developers to add to its Android team. Successful candidates will work side by side with the customer to develop Android multimedia functionality for tomorrow’s next generation Android devices.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain multimedia drivers, middleware and applications
• Develop and maintain unit tests utilizing existing test frameworks
• Develop and maintain test harness applications utilizing JNI callouts
• Participate in the debugging of difficult problems involving hardware and/or multiple software subsystems including kernel drivers and system firmware
• Analyze performance of modules and design and implement improvements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with an emphasis on software systems
• 5+ years of software development experience (C, C++, Java)
• Proficiency in Android and sound fundamentals of Android application architecture
• Thorough knowledge of using Eclipse, Android SDK, and Android NDK
• Solid computer science and debugging fundamentals
• Experience with multimedia sub-systems such as OpenCore, Stagefright, OpenMAX IL, gstreamer, SDL, OpenSL, or FFmpeg
• Knowledge or experience of audio codecs and formats such as aiff, ogg/vorbis, ale, h.264, mpeg4, mp3, AAC and wma
