Software Development Engineer

The Corporate Applications team mission is to empower all Amazonians to be their best by supplying great corporate applications, tools and services that simplify processes and enhance productivity for Amazon employees. The HRIS team within Corporate Applications is looking for a qualified Software Development Engineer who wants to help the organization achieve that mission, will embrace the Amazon culture, and has a proven track record of delivering customer solutions.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to all parts of the software development lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and operations. The following skill sets provide a good foundation for a quick ramp up to being productive in our Java, Linux and Oracle-based environment.  We're looking for a range of experience, from brilliant and motivated new college graduates to technical leaders with battle-tested wisdom.

 

 

Critical Competencies & Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's degree in Computer Science (or relevant equivalent)
  • At least 3 years of experience
  • Proficiency in Java in a Linux or Unix environment
  • Strong OO design skills are helpful
  • Database modeling skills are a plus
  • Familiarity with Oracle Fusion Middleware desirable
  • Familiarity with SQL desirable
  • Familiarity with at least one scripting language desirable
  • Knowledge of Human Resource technologies and processes
  • Knowledge of ERP Applications (PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.); functional modules, integration points and technologies.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure that supports software development; network, storage, servers and telecommunications
