The Challenge:
The Software Development Engineering Test (SDET) Lead will provide technical leadership, process definition, tool selection and person management of the Data Services SDET team.
The SDET team is responsible for the design, test planning and automated / performance test execution around custom backend software applications. This hands-on position requires broad engineering competence and in-depth technical knowledge of web services and data storage software development.
The Task:
Management and Leadership Responsibilities:
* Design, deployment and management of continuous integration and testing environments
* Design, institution and enforcement of testing process
* Evaluation and selection of testing tools
* Management of SDET team (6-8 test engineers)
* Work with operations team to development smooth handoff of certified software for integration testing and production deployment
Individual Contributor Responsibilities:
* Work with software engineering team to design testable service components
* Write test plans for backend service software
* Write unit, integration and performance tests for data-centric applications and web services
* Develop, manage and maintain quality metrics and reporting for management team
Required Skills:
Required Qualifications:
* At least 5 years experience in automated testing
* At least 2 years of development (the ability to write code that tests code) and QA managerial experience
* Solid Java development expertise (current or recent)
* JUnit or .NET/NUnit experience. You have demonstrable skills in building JUnit and/or NUnit tests.
* Experience instituting testing and build processes and tools
* Experience testing service oriented architecture (SOA) and databases
* Experience designing and running web stress and load tests
* Strong QA skills: planning, bug isolation, bug report writing, and troubleshooting.
* Ability to automate complex test cases.
* BS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
