Primary Objective:
Prerequisites include shell scripting, preferably Perl and bash, knowledge of software release processes and versioning, and build environments. Visual studio, GCC, cross compilers etc. Knowledge of amake, Electric Commander, Coverity, and/or Bug tracking (Jira) administration a plus.
Must have good communication skills across all departments. Must be self motivating and consider Release Engineering a career rather than a stepping stone.
Accountability/Scope (range of responsibilities):
This position will require strong knowledge of source control methods (and specific knowledge of Accurev.), integrated, cross-platform, parallel, automated software build and versioning systems, continuous test automation and CGI scripting.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Focus on specific Release Engineering projects and provide backup for daily Release Engineering tasks.
Projects include:
- Service packs and hot fixes
- Source control and Bug tracking administration
- Test Tools and Build automation
- Dev projects builds
- Have the knowledge to understand, use, administer, maintain and enhance where necessary the automated build system, the source control system and the bug tracking system.
Skills Required:
-Excellent communication skills

-Build methods (make variants)
-Gcc

-Familiarity with Software Release Process and Versioning
-Understanding of distributed build automation and environments
-Understanding of Continuous integration concepts.
-Web Skills, including CGI scripting (Perl)
-BugDB administration (Jira)
Desired Job Experience:
-Familiarity with Visual Studio on Windows
-Familiarity with install anywhere across windows and Unix platforms
-Familiarity with Electric Cloud, Jira, Coverity
-Experience with Test Automation
-Experience implementing and administering production build farms
Desired Education:
Minimum 5 years experience in pure Release Engineering role. Degree a plus but not required as experience is preferred.
