Software Engineer 3

Alpha Technologies, provider of world-class powering solutions, seeks a Software Engineer 3 for the Power Systems Development Engineering group at its facility in Bellingham, WA. 

SUMMARY:

Perform complex activities relating to the design, testing and evaluation of firmware/software projects, including the interpretation and implementation of specifications and functional requirements.  Responsible for project management elements of larger projects and/or multiple smaller ones.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs firmware related design within projects


• Provides interface between engineering groups, co-developers, applications, technical publications, manufacturing, marketing, sales and the customer


• Develops and implements detailed engineering specifications/validation test plans and internal processes related to firmware development

SKILLS:

• Experience with Real Time Embedded Systems.


• Experience with Real Time Embedded System Control.


• Working with C in an Integrated Development Environment (IDE)


• Skill with Firmware/Software Debugging.


• Experience with hardware interfaces.


• Solid skills in project, vendor and customer timeline management


• Excellent textual and verbal communications


• Good team work and team building skills


• Experience in direct customer/vendor support and interaction


• Experience with embedded systems


• General knowledge of documentation and release process


• Development experience with communications based protocols

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:     Bachelor Degree - BSCS, BSCE, BSEE, BSEET (or equivalent military training)

Experience:    4-6 years experience in firmware/software design and development

The following experiences are a plus:

• Experience with TCP/IP Protocols.


• Experience with IIC Interface.


• Experience with RS-232 Interface.


• Experience with Software Design/Life-cycle.


• Documentation Skills (i.e. Specifications, Test Plans, etc.)
