Software Engineer 4/5 Responsibilities: Participate in architecture and software development activities that may include: specification and development of technical interfaces and design architectures; translation of requirements into specifications; develop and deliver software prototypes; participate in testing of the prototypes; analyze, design and develop software-based solutions meeting business needs; handle complex application features and technical designs; and provide systems and software engineering support to TTO as needed. The candidate shall have an understanding of how UIS code works, and how analysts use UIS. Knowledge of XML parsers, SQL and Perl is required. Development skills in JAVA (threading/thread pooling, RMI, character set encoding, SWING, JDBC, JMS, J2EE, Enterprise Java Beans, Web Logic, Serves and JSP) are required. Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems. Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system. Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met. Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities. Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics. Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects. Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations. Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards. Works under minimal direction. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 5 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Other Job related information Position is contingent upon program award, as well as program/customer concurrence. Current TS/SCI with Polygraph required.
