Software Engineer ( C++ | C# | OOD | .NET )
KLA-Tencor's Process Control Information Division provides leading-edge data analysis and simulation software solutions to the semiconductor industry that enable the industry to continue pushing the device manufacturing capabilities for current and future design nodes.
In order for the semiconductor industry to scale to smaller device nodes, and reach new heights in device performance, today’s leading-edge chip designs are going vertical. And, as semiconductor manufacturers take these 3D device structures from the R&D lab into a volume production fab, they require the world’s most sophisticated patterning process control solutions.
With over 38 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA-Tencor to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA-Tencor’s Patterning Solutions Group (PSG) is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers to join our 5D team.
Our 5D patterning process control technologies control the three dimensions of the device structure, while optimizing the process control loops (time) and minimizing the expense (cost) to create the device; hence five dimensional patterning process control (5D).
The team’s mission is to collaborate with our customers to innovate hardware and software technologies that detect and control process variations—at their source—rather than compensate for them at later stages of the manufacturing process. These patterning process control solutions provide the most accurate process correctables available today; providing real-time feedback and feed-forward control to improve subsequent process steps.

•Developing software algorithm requirements and specifications from marketing and field engineering requirements
•Software design, implementation and unit testing in collaborative team environment using Microsoft VS C# and C++
•Scientific algorithm implementation and documentation of moderate to high complexity
•Support algorithm development by other software engineers via specifications, pseudo code and training
•Estimation of task and implementation sizes
•BS/BA in mathematics, statistics or other natural sciences, MS degree preferred
•2+ years of experience in professional software development or equivalent educational background
•Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio C# and C++ development environment
•Familiar with OOD principles and use of UML
•Experience with mathematical algorithm implementation
•Basic knowledge of software development life cycles, including waterfall and agile methodologies
•Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills, experience with virtual and international teams a plus
•Proficient in Microsoft Office products
•Experience in semiconductor industry a plus
•Flexibility to travel preferred
