Responsibilities Qualifications
This position is based in Clemmons, North Carolina. Verizon Wireless and Qualcomm have formed a joint venture, called nPhase, that will provide end-to-end Machine to Machine (M2M) solutions to enable "Smart Services" initiatives in a variety of industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, utilities, distribution and consumer products. The Joint Venture is a solution provider that combines industry-leading technology, know-how, and partner networks to deliver tailored remote management or Machine-to-Machine (M2M) solutions. Our business focus is enabling clients with the ability to electronically network their products, extract insight, and pursue new business models. These new models are aptly referred to as 'Smart Services.' As a member of the Device Engineering Team, you will be required to: -- Develop M2M monitoring systems in remote cellular-enabled devices. A typical solution will connect to customer assets via RS232, Modbus, CAN, and/or discrete sensors and report back data to our host application over the cellular network. These are multi-threaded embedded systems implemented in C, Python, or J2ME in a variety of embedded operating environments/OS's. -- Develop corresponding automated test solutions for M2M features produced. Will require C#, C++, and SQL Server in a closed loop test system. -- Collaborate well across teams from device, to infrastructure, to host apps to resolve data collection and reporting issues. -- Dialog with customers on detailed requirements. -- Be flexible to learn whatever technology is needed to create customer solutions.
Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent combined education/experience
Skills/Experience:
-- 2+ years experience in Software Engineering.
-- Experience programming using C, C++, C#, Python, SQL Server, Windows XP, Linux.
-- Good technical writing skills. Good verbal/interpersonal communication skills.
-- Commitment to schedules and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
Additional Skills:
-- Real-time embedded system programming.
-- Experience in communications, protocols, mesh networks, cellular, etc.
-- Knowledge of electronics hardware including sensor theory.
