SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

The Software Developer brings technology expertise to Rovi for the design and development of high-volume online systems as well as embedded SDK offerings for consumer electronic devices. This key position will implement scalable designs, follow appropriate software development methodologies, and be a technology innovator reporting to the Manager of Software Development within the Media Recognition and Recommendations product development group.

• Implement software using Java, C++ and/or C#
• Contributor to the process of technical design and software implementation
• Work with the software team and other departments for the creation of requirements and product design
• Ensure that appropriate software development standards are used in all phases of the development cycle
• Coordinate testing efforts with the Quality Assurance and Product Management teams
• Operate in a tightly-knit Scrum Delivery team as a team contributor

Required Skills

• 1-3 years programming with Java, and 1 year with C++
• Understanding and experience with object-oriented programming and design
• BS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent certifications plus experience
• Database experience such as MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, building enterprise-class consumer products

Desired Skills

• Experience with digital music or movies and the entertainment industry is a strong plus
• Development experience in a Linux or embedded environment
• Experience programming with a large highly relational database
• Experience with Mac OS X, Symbian, Android, or iPhone development
• Experience with embedded operating systems such as Windows CE and QNX
