Vertafore is looking for a Software Engineer I for its BenefitPoint Development team in Bothell, WA. 

Performs product development, design, bug verification, release testing, and beta support on applications software projects which may require research and analysis. May assist in performing on-site client work. Operates under moderate supervision.

Essential Duties/Tasks:

*         Performs product development, design, system analysis, and programming activities on applications software which may require some research

*         Performs design, implementation and maintenance of single product modules/sub-systems or on lower level issues of multiple products

*         Prepares technical documentation of product sub-systems

*         Conducts the unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits

*         Experience with Java and Oracle development

*         Performs bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support

*         Develops solutions to problems

Skills and Knowledge:

*         Typically requires 18 months to three years of technical experience in product development

*         Experience with Java server technologies - experience with Struts, ORM (Hibernate/JDO/custom persistence frameworks), and Spring is strongly preferred

*         Proficiency with standard development tools - Ant, JUnit, source control (CVS/subversion), UML designs, Linux/UNIX shell commands is strongly preferred

*         Proficiency with related technologies, including SQL databases (Oracle), HTML, JSP, Tag Libraries, JavaScript, AJAX, XML, and Web Services is strongly preferred

*         General technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation

*         General analytical and design skills at single product/single environment level

*         General skills in research, project planning and implementation

*         General understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance

*         General awareness of business issues as they impact overall project plans

*         Good communications and interpersonal skills

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in business, software engineering or computer science
