This position is located in our LA, New Orleans facility
GENERAL SUMMARY: Develops, modifies, and tests complex computer programs utilizing Java language for oil and gas industry; generates new code and corrects, converts, and/or modifies existing code to meet specifications; confers with end-users to analyze specified methods and procedures, identify problems, and document specific requirements; reviews and evaluates software products and systems to ensure adherence to company and customer quality standards; develops software/systems testing procedures and conducts tests; works under general supervision; performs additional duties as assigned.
Requires BS/BA degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.
Requires 2-5 years experience in software development with demonstrated experience performing Java and J2EE server-side development; and designing and implementing software tests. IT experience in the oil and gas industry preferred.
1. Experience with Java, BEA Web Logic, web services, or JUnit is desired.
2. Experience with object-oriented analysis and design.
3. Experience with web interface tools and familiarity with concepts of web-based software applications.
3. Experience deploying web-based systems in a secure Federal Government environment a plus.
4. Experience with Agile programming concepts is a plus.
5. Experience with test procedure development, maintenance, and execution, along with writing functional and unit tests.
6. Ability to interpret requirements and translate them into precise test cases.
7. Ability to detect, report, track and explain defects effectively.
8. Ability to write clear, concise and effective correspondence, test plans, procedures and scenarios in accordance with policies.
9. Strong interpersonal presentation and communication skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
