Software Engineering Associate Manager

Description:
The selected candidate will support the program by providing leadership for 12 to 20 Lockheed Martin engineers supporting the pursuit of new business and research initiatives. The selected individual will work closely with program manager(s) in Manassas, VA, Mountain View, CA, and OFallon, IL to successfully deliver products for the associated projects. The technical activities are heavily focused on data-warehousing and SOA products and processes. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Work with direct report engineers to meet customer requirements and business objectives.
- Hire and mentor new engineers, (intern/Entry-Level Professional focus).
- Provide mechanisms for development and professional growth of employees.
- Support merit planning, performance assessments, training, awards and recognition, employee counseling and disciplinary action when necessary.
- Maintain and enforce compliance with company requirements (STARS inputs, compliance training, etc.)
- Support technical reviews of the products being developed by direct reports.
- Support proposal efforts for BOE generation, whitepaper development, and technical/cost analysis.
- Perform Cost Account Management activities for projects, utilizing appropriate Earned Value Methodologies and staffing forecasting.
- Liaison with customer on cost, schedule, status, and risk management.
- Perform project management duties such as schedule creation/maintenance, status reporting, etc.
- Regular travel to/from VA and CA may be necessary.
- Participate in University initiatives such as University collaboration, University recruiting, University research, etc.

Qualifications:
Demonstrated successful team leadership experience on projects/programs. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer relationships. Experience with engineering and lifecycle processes. Ability to successfully engage in recruiting, performance appraisals, merit planning, and staffing decisions. Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask. Ability to work with little supervision. Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with MS Project and EVM techniques.
