ElectroCraft Michigan is the North American development and application center for the company’s motion control initiative. This facility is responsible for the development of the company’s DSP based high-performance digital servo drive product roadmap that will be sold on a global basis.
The legacy capability of the ElectroCraft Michigan operation is to serve the OEM machine builders, with a focus on embedded OEM servo solutions, designed specifically for the customer, which integrate directly into their machines. This digital drive technology, coupled with the overall ElectroCraft legacy of reliable, custom manufactured motor products creates a unique capability in the marketplace. ElectroCraft has the ability to provide customers complete, feature-rich standard servo systems or take ownership responsibility for a completely customized motor and drive solution in those applications where standard product features, product performance or price points do not meet the needs of the application.

Software/Hardware Engineer
Job Description
The Software/Hardware Engineer will increase sales by creating customer value with product solutions by developing software and hardware specifications and designs that provide functional value to the product line and customer base.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Increase sales by creating customer value with technical product solutions (product development).
· Design circuits that interface DSP’s and microprocessors to high power / High Voltage electronics.
· Assist in printed circuit board layout.
· Write assembly & C-level code for DSP’s and microprocessors.
· Document code functions & algorithms with flow charts, text, graphics, etc.
· Develop functional testing protocols/procedures.
· Test product software.
· Help select new technology for future products.
· Organize and structure code for real-time embedded environments.
· Develop products compliant with UL, CE, EMC/EMI, and the Low Voltage safety Directive.
· Work closely w/Sales, Application Engineers & Services Team -to aid in developing opportunities & closing sales.
· Improve collateral material:
− Writing application notes
− Enhancing usability of user manuals
− Resolving any technical errors in specifications
− Communicate (written & verbal) effectively with individuals of diverse professional backgrounds; be objective, open minded, and skilled at building consensus.
Qualifications
· Requires 10+ years of experience designing analog and digital electrical circuits
· Working knowledge of Electronic Hardware is essential · Experience designing circuits for HIGH VOLTAGE / HIGH POWER systems · Applied knowledge of CE and other EMI and EMC certifications · Experience interfacing with DSP’s and microprocessors · Experience writing code for embedded processors in HIGH VOLTAGE / HIGH POWER systems · Experience writing assembly level code for DSP’s and microprocessors · Working knowledge of TI DSP’s and Microchip microprocessors · Proclivity to organize and structure code for real-time embedded environments · Working Knowledge of MS Office based products · Excellent time management, verbal & written communications, decision making, human relations, presentation and organization skills · Business maturity to deliver calm and composed responses under pressure situations; typically person will be working on more than one project at a time; the prioritization of these activities is necessary to meet project timelines · Be comfortable taking ownership for projects; strong leadership, influencing skills and a strong results orientation · Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited to drug testing, reference verification and background check
· Knowledge of motion control systems (servo/ step motor) and control theory as it pertains to motor control development
