Software QA Engineer
With general direction and some latitude for independent judgment and discretion, the Software QA Engineer performs QA-related activities, including the testing of WageWorks’ customer facing websites and back end applications. This position is responsible for developing, documenting, and implementing test plans and test cases, and developing and implementing automation scripts. Primary Duties: - Performs moderately complex functional, system, performance, data, integration and regression/acceptance testing to support internal applications and customer-facing websites, and related back-office applications that enable the organization to deliver high-quality software services to clients.
Initiates the test planning process for assigned projects. Participates in the QA phases of the WageWorks SDLC process including requirements review and evaluation, detailed test plan and test case development and execution, and product readiness. Provides detailed reports on issued identified in QA testing, including steps to reproduce defects.Works closely with software engineers, technical leads, release engineers, database developers and product managers to diagnose product issues, identify potential software limitations, resolve defects and verify corrective actions.Ensures that changes introduced in the production environment that affect Commuter, Health Care, Dependent Care and other WageWorks’ products and solutions have followed the proper QA process and adhere to the WageWorks’ SDLC process, including the completion and archiving of associated quality records. Works with other WageWorks’ departments to triage field-reported issues to be addressed by the Product Development team. Suggests improvements to methods, procedures and efficiencies that lead to better products and/or solutions.Maintains performance and functional testing scripts and QA documentation, integrating enhancements and additional test cases as needed.Analyzes proposed product changes to determine and provide QA testing effort estimates. Requirements: EDUCATION: Knowledge of computer science or engineering or a closely related field as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. WORK EXPERIENCE OR RELATED EXPERIENCE: Requires the knowledge, skill and ability to perform moderately complex functional, system, performance, data, integration and regression/acceptance testing of web applications with involvement in multiple full life-cycle projects, as normally obtained through a minimum of 4 years directly related experience. In addition, requires proven experience developing test plans, test procedures, test cases, and test reports, as well as experience writing automation scripts, and using automation tools such as Load Runner, Win Runner, Quick Test Pro, and Silk Test. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: A good technical knowledge in software QA design and methodologies, and the ability to write PL/SQL and create test data is required. The ability to refine existing QA processes and procedures, and the ability to implement best practices in the QA function is essential. Ability to use automated testing tool using Mercury Quick Test pro. Ability to use mercury quality center for integrated test plan and test design and submit defect using defect tracker. Requires good analytical, research, documentation, project planning and implementation skills. Incumbents must have a good understanding of the complete development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.
