Description:

Software Tester
Arcade Games

The majority of products are new games, however there are occasionally updates to existing game products.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Writes and runs test cases and may run and/or write test automation scripts.
  • Performs detailed analysis of test results and adjusts test cases accordingly.
  • Can provide some bug prevention or proactive testing through product specification reviews.
  • Works with Developers and/or Program Managers to troubleshoot failures or triage to the appropriate level.
  • May write test plans for a small project or a medium to large feature set.
  • Reviews test specifications, cases, and automation written by others for coverage and completeness.
  • Improves test quality and effectiveness by working with Development and Program Management to prevent problems and to make the product more testable.
  • Finds holes in test cases.
  • Receives directions from Manager.
  • Day to day job duties will vary depending on the stage of the game development schedule.

This is an estimated 3-4 month contract position with the possibility of an extension, through Volt Technical Resources - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, which is headquartered in Redmond, Washington. We are among the largest IT staffing companies in the US for contract/temporary and direct hire placements and support most of the top rated IT companies in the Pacific Northwest.



Requirements:

Software Test Engineer Qualifications:


  • 1-2 years of work related experience is preferred.
  • Game experience (preferably in game testing, but worst case scenario you at least need to be a "Gamer").
  • Some experience with xbox game development tools and test technologies (tools within the Xbox 360 XDK).
  • Limited understanding of game development practices at a minimum.
  • Solid communication skills and ability to self-motivate/direct daily efforts as it is a very short contract (due to project schedule) the faster we get the position filled - the better.
