The  Systems Management staff provides high-level quality support services for the  Group’s mission critical systems and databases.

The business objectives are supported through acquiring, designing, implementing, monitoring and maintaining the Groups systems.
System administrators act as technical resources to the Group's major projects and will assist with the design and implementation of infrastructure components.

Systems Management has an opening for an experienced Solaris System Administrator to be part of a team responsible for providing support for the  mission critical systems.

The successful candidate would be required to demonstrate strong technical skills, strong communication skills, the ability to work in a mission critical environment, the ability to work independently and the willingness to accept new technical challenges.

Job Responsibilities

- Build, install and configure servers and their
 operating systems;
- Deploy and administer high availability and contingency solutions
 (On -site failover, clustering and replication to
 off-site systems);
- Support Markets applications deployments and testing;

- Support Markets application problem resolution;
- Administer enterprise monitoring of server performance,
 availability and security;
- Administer system backup and recovery solutions;
- Provide administration support for IBM MQ
 servers that reside on Markets servers;
- Support QA, production and contingency tests;
- Participate in Markets project teams and provide technical

 expertise/guidance to the Markets business teams;
- Interact with Bank ISF and Audit teams to ensure
 that the Markets systems are properly maintained,
 administered, secured and to engineer corrective
 solutions if needed.

Job Requirements

-  Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or
  related field and/or at least 5+ yrs experience of
  Solaris administration and troubleshooting.

- 2+ yrs experience of RedHat administration and troubleshooting.

- Strong working knowledge of Solaris 10 and Linux 4.x
- Hands-on knowledge of Veritas Foundation Suite,
  Cluster Server, NetBackup (4.5 or higher);
- Demonstrated understanding of system security
 best practices;
- Proven experience in shell scripting;
- Excellent analytical as well as written and verbal
 communication skills;
- Work experience working in a mission critical environment
 where  change control and compliance policies
 and procedures are enforced; and
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments with
 minimal supervision.

Desirables (in the order of relevance):
- Hands-on experience in SAN administration;
- Working knowledge of IBM WebSphere administration;
- Working knowledge of IBM MQ administration;

- Familiarity with Reuters RMDS;
- Working knowledge of Opsware SAS;
