Solution Architect

Description:
We seek a highly motivated, and uniquely creative, supply chain management Solution Architect to join our Sourcing Development team. Successful applicants will be responsible for leading and performing designing and coding activities as we create the next generation of systems. C.H. Robinson is currently in the midst of an exciting, multi-year endeavor to modernize its core systems.
- A decent mix of leading and mentoring developers on the team as well as developing software
- Provide guidance and direction to development team to ensure compliance with the CHR standards and best practices
- Ensure development team standards are followed and suggest changes to standards when necessary
- Provide development estimates
- Lead design activities
- Maintain integrity of the application architecture
- Be the developers go-to for guidance as development work is done (maintain integrity of high level design)
- Schedule and lead developer code walk-throughs
- Translate high-level requirements into detailed designs
- Create or maintain documentation relating to application development
- Perform unit testing and some functional testing
- Represent the Sourcing development team in Architecture meetings. Actively participant in these meetings, solicit information from the development team when appropriate and keep them aware of topics as appropriate.
- Keep in tune with new technologies as they evolve and research new technologies or different ways of doing things when appropriate

Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of development experience in Information Technology with in-depth experience in Object-Oriented Analysis, Object-Oriented Design and Object-Oriented Programming as well as SOA. Must have been part of a project as an architect or lead that implemented an enterprise SOA based system
- Excellent design and architecture skills and proven track record delivering well designed, complex, enterprise class systems
- Proven experience with UML
- Team-based leadership capabilities, including interpersonal relationship, facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution
- Proven ability and willingness to quickly learn new custom enterprise applications
- Demonstrated creativity in solving technology problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proven experience in mentoring others in technical areas
- Experience in unit testing: planning, creating, managing and automating
- Must be a self-starter with proven experience accomplishing goals with little direct oversight
- Proven track record of effectively delivering results in a fast paced, flexible environment while managing multiple priorities
- Deep experience with the Microsoft Development platform and the following technologies/concepts: VB.Net, .Net versions 2-current, SOA, COM+, MS SQL Server, T-SQL, XML, Web Services and WCF, MVP, Schema-based Contract First, SOA, .NET Data Binding, .NET Delegates and Events and MVP.
- Good knowledge and experience effectively implementing various software patterns is required
- Knowledge of/Exposure to the following would be helpful, but not required: ICONIX development process, Enterprise Architect and Infragistics grid.
Extensive knowledge of produce/perishable supply chain management (Replenishment, Supply, Demand, Inventory, Transportation, Financial) business processes and systems is required

Undergraduate degree in business administration, computer science/software engineering, or equivalent work experience.
