| | The role of this position is to directly support a designated business area, and provide architecture support and guidance at the solution level. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Architecture, the solution architect is responsible for: - Being a business domain expert, and understanding the personalities, business processes, challenges, and existing technical architecture related to an assigned business area.
- Helping business stakeholders and IT coworkers understand how technology resources can be used to add business value.
- Assisting business analyst and IT management in developing projects requirements and high level designs and high level estimates.
- Helping project teams align project work with strategic initiatives.
- Helping project teams identify points of reuse, and leverage existing IT assts where appropriate.
- Providing guidance to software development teams related to technical challenges, process challenges, or understanding guidance on application architecture and standards.
- Mentoring development leads, or at times actually leading high risk, high-difficulty software development efforts.
- Conducting mentoring and training activities as assigned.
- Developing high quality code of the highest difficulty.
- Evangelizing the role of the architect, and ensuring IT management, project teams, and IT staff understand the purpose of the various architecture roles with US Airways IT.
- Working with the Enterprise Architect, help define and understand the US Airways IT strategy.
- While most team members are focused on project work and deliverables, represent the strategic and high level IT vision at the project level.
- Interact effectively with all levels of IT and business management.

| Job Requirements | | |

| | - At least five years experience as a software developer, at least some of the time with Microsoft technologies such as C#, ASP.NET, WCF, BizTalk, and WPF.
- At least two years experience as an application or solution architect
- At least eight years experience in a large IT organization.
- Extremely proficient at oral and written communication. Must be comfortable running meetings and presenting information to diverse groups.
- Familiar with a variety of software development methodologies, including Scrum, XP, and traditional waterfall.
- Familiar with SOA and ESB architectures.
- Exposure to TOGAF, Zachman, or FEA is helpful, but not required.
- Training experience in a classroom setting helpful, but not required.
