Special Education Teacher
About the Job
Wayside Youth and Family Support Network offers a small, private special education therapeutic day school for children and adolescence in the Metro West area. We are seeking experienced, certified special education teacher; grades 7-12 for immediate hire. Candidate must have skill, passion and understanding of student population with impairments in the area of emotional, behavioral, trauma, as well as, residential placements. School year is 220 days.
The curriculum will follow those outlined by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Teacher must be skilled in meeting standards, MCAS prep and classroom management. Strong written skills. Requires flexibility as a team member. Requires strong communication skills and proactive initiatives with parents and guardians. Experience with youth of DCF resources, Teacher will work 220 day/school year.
Qualifications:
- Special Education Certification in the state of MA is mandatory
- Demonstrated teaching experience with middle/high school aged learners
- Demonstrated experience with DCF, residential community and teamwork
Candidates who are bi-lingual, have experience leading and teaching behaviorally challenged youth, diversity and demonstrated commitment to improvement of others will receive immediate consideration.
