| Specialist Engineering - Advanced Systems |

Description: The primary function of the position is to design and develop new technology that enables profitable growth in commercial vehicle powertrain systems. The scope of responsibility is to lead and coordinate the development of conceptual solutions, analytics, and hardware needed to validate critical questions, deliver proof of concept, and ensure the transition of new technology to the product development organizations.
Essential job functions: 1. Identify and create new product opportunities that provide value through technology. 2. Generate a variety of system and component choices and perform trade-off analyses using both analytical and experimental resources. 3. Formulate a concepts critical hypotheses and designs and execute the relevant tests to validate the hypotheses. 4. Create commercially viable solutions for new product opportunities in the commercial vehicle powertrain industry. 5. Plan and manage work from a variety of technical contributors to accomplish project objectives. 6. Define, plan, and execute all aspects of a prototype system development project including analysis, design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, and test. 7. Lead the design of prototype and pre-production vehicle systems including conventional powertrain systems and hybrid powertrain systems. 8. Lead the design of other (non-powertrain) vehicle systems or components as needed to accomplish project objectives. 9. Oversee the installation of prototype systems into development vehicles. 10. Interact with engineers, designers, and technicians to accomplish project objectives. 11. Interact with customer, partner, and supplier organizations to accomplish project objectives. 12. Clearly communicate project status to management both verbally and in writing. 13. Rigorously organize programs to follow PRELaunch and Innovation processes.

Qualifications: Specialized knowledge required: 1. Ability to plan, manage, and lead projects to successful completion. 2. Thorough knowledge of automotive and/or commercial vehicle powertrain systems. 3. Working knowledge of hybrid electric powertrain systems. 4. Functional familiarity with land vehicle systems in general, including chassis systems, embedded electronics, and digital communications systems. 5. Experience with the integration of systems composed of mechanical, electrical, and control/communication elements.
Education and skills required: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, advanced degree preferred. Seven years of experience in Hybrid electric powertrain design and development in industry. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to represent Eaton at customer-facing events.
