We seek a Director, Human Resources to work within an exciting Human Resources department. This position is responsible for directing the firm-wide human resources programs and policies in the areas of professional staff recruiting, employee relations, professional development and training, and support services. The position develops, interprets, and recommends program goals and objectives, policies and procedures, and courses of action. Overview of Responsibilities:
- Review, interpret and make recommendations to management to establish and improve firm policies in functional areas of responsibility, establish a positive employer-employee relationship, and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
- Ensure that all policies and programs in areas of responsibility are applied consistently on a firm-wide basis .
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost and risk by strengthening policies and providing training to firm leaders and management.
- Prepares, administers, and audits the Human Resources budget for functional areas of responsibility. Analyzes budget to identify budget needs and/or re-allocations.
- Develops strong working relationships with other executives, management and staff, providing advice, guidance, and coaching as needed.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on employment-related policy and provide counseling to the firm's management.
- Monitor employee relations-related actions, decisions, communications and training to ensure executives and managers understand and apply sound employee relations practices.
- Work with employment law to ensure that all policies and procedures comply with local, state and federal laws.
- Develop analytics to better understand key drivers of employee satisfaction/dissatisfaction (ie: exit interviews, human resources data) and lead in the development of initiatives to address employee satisfaction.
- Serves as an advocate to all firm employees, while always guarding the interests of the firm.
- Develops and implements training and development initiatives to address current capabilities and future training needs of the firm's professional staff, including on-the-job operational training, department special training, management development, new hire orientation and on boarding.
- Establishes and leads the professional staff recruiting strategy and practices to ensure the recruitment and retention of effective, high-quality professional staff.
- Oversees the professional staff recruiting team and takes an active role in interviewing management and executive-level candidates, and serves as interviewer for position finalists.
- Work with staff department leaders to develop and implement an appropriate recruitment strategy to attract and retain highly-qualified candidates.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing, on a prepared and extemporaneous basis.
- Ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external clients, to address administrative issues. Involves the use of considerable tact, discretion, and persuasion in gaining the cooperation of others.
- Ability to appropriately delegate work to others to meet deadlines, goals and objectives, develop skills and knowledge of others, build capacity and productivity of department.
- Ability to manage subordinate supervisors in a complex work environment to develop a cohesive, effective work unit.
- Ability to effectively supervise others, including hiring, training, assigning work, managing performance, counseling, disciplining and terminating.
- Ability to conceptualize, organize, plan, implement and evaluate programs and services.
- Ability to analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources, apply critical and creative thinking to draw conclusions or develop solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to represent the firm with honesty, integrity, and professionalism, consistently acting in an ethical manner.
- Knowledge of standard accounting and/or budgeting principles and the ability to monitor and manage budgets within established limits, analyze financial data and draw accurate conclusions.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS suite to produce quality written communications such as memos, spreadsheets, slides, standard work documents.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships.
Required Experience:
- The positions requires a Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Management or other related field. Equivalent training and experience will substitute for education.
- The position requires a minimum of ten (10) years of diversified human resources management experience with a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience.
