Our Clinical Laboratory Department consists of both inpatient and outpatient services. We have 4 outpatient draw sites in our high volume laboratory. We also receive samples from different parts of the state as well as other hospitals/health care organizations/clinics and perform esoteric testing.
Our team consists of about 50 Specimen Handling Lab Aides, both full time and per diem. Some of our team members have been working in the lab for 20+ years.

Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, this position provides the collection of blood specimens by venipuncture and skin puncture, accessioning, labeling, and processing of all specimens in the Clinical Laboratory.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Additional college courses or a college degree is highly desirable
- At least 2 years of solid phlebotomy experience in a hospital environment or busy outpatient clinic with demonstrable skills in both venipuncture and capillary specimen collection for adult and pediatric patients
- Phlebotomy certificate and CA State certification is required
- Must have working knowledge of medical terminology
- Must have working knowledge of basic laboratory terminology
- Working knowledge of test specimen handling is required
- Must have basic knowledge to trouble shoot and investigate specimen problems
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced, high volume laboratory, yet still maintaining the highest level of customer service and make the client feel at ease
