Description: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation Services, the Speech Language Pathologist specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of speech and language problems and engages in scientific study of human communication by performing duties such as diagnoses and evaluation of speech, language skills, and swallowing disorders as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors. Providing counseling and guidance and language development therapy to disabled individuals, and administering, scoring, and interpreting specialized hearing, speech tests, and Barium Swallows. Qualifications: SLP/CCC: Master of Speech Language Pathologist from an institution accredited by ASHA required. Certified by ASHA as a Speech Language Pathologist required. Minimum of 5 years clinical experience preferred. Minimum of 3 years in staff supervision preferred. Or, SLP/CFY: Master of Speech Language Pathology from an institution accredited by ASHA. Has been assigned a Supervising SLP/CCC in accordance with the Texas State Board of Examiners. Specialized Training or Certification:SLP/CCC: Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in SLP from ASHA required. OR, SLP/CFY: Current License as an SLP intern by the Texas State Board of Examiners required. Meets all requirements for Clinical Fellowship Year by the Texas Board of Examiners.
