In our Regulatory Accounting team, we are seeking a Senior Accountant.  This position has responsibility for the reporting and analysis of several stand-alone regulated entities, that requires regular internal and external reporting, and is subject to audits by both our external audit firm and insurance regulators.  Additional responsibilities include
- Perform the legal entity quarterly close on a statutory basis and monthly account reconciliations.
- Prepare financial filings, completing and filing surveys and assessments with various regulatory agencies.
- Develop and provide comprehensive analysis of the financial statements for use by management and regulators; including legal entity forecasting to support the company's capital planning.
- Work with associates in corporate finance, actuarial, treasury, legal and segment finance to understand all business matters that may affect the stand-alone legal entities to understand financial results and coordinate information needs for the preparation of financial statements.
- Coordinate the comprehensive provision of work papers and other documents needed to support audit activities and proactively manage the audit relationship.
- Act as the focal point for the legal entity leadership; supporting financial analysis, DOI inquiries, and other regulatory requirements.
- Be an active participant on a regulatory project team to improve department efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Act as of department liaison to other functional areas or business segments that affect the legal entities; become a subject matter expert and coordinate and communicate important messages.

Required qualifications:
- 2+ years of accounting / finance experience and broad knowledge of financial principles, practices, and procedures
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make recommendations based on findings
- MS Office proficiency
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 
Preferred qualifications include:
- CPA status
- Regulatory/statutory filing experience
- A background in the healthcare industry
- Public accounting experience
- PeopleSoft and Essbase skills
