Sr. Accountant – Tinley Park, IL
The Senior Accountant is to prepare various accounting reconciliations, enter and verify accuracy of journal entries with very little direct supervision. This accountant should have a broad knowledge of the accounting policies, computer systems, and procedures and the ability to create and develop accounting policies and procedures. The Senior Accountant should be able to make recommendations on financial management issues and provide advice and assistance to departmental managers and upper management. The Senior Accountant should be able provide training assistance when required. Special projects or accounting functions may be assigned to the Senior Accountant. Support SSC staff as problems or questions arise in their processes. Review and advise foreign subsidiaries on accounting issues.
The Sr. Accountant will be a key contributor in the following areas:
Accounting
· Create and implement organizational accounting standards, methods, and procedures.
· Design and interpret varied and complex financial reports. Identify and correct errors in financial reports.
· Develop and implement accounting practices based on GAAP.
· Monitor industry accounting methods.
· Takes the lead in designing, customizing, and creating complex reports.
· Monitor and maintain the quality and accuracy of G/L data.
Plays a leadership role on G/L policies and best practices.
General Account Reconciliations:
· Prepare analysis and account reconciliations on major accruals/Balance Sheet Accounts
Review worldwide balances in Cumulative Translation Gain/Loss for reasonableness, perform accuracy checks of those balances failing to meet this “reasonableness” test
Monthly Closing:
· Generate Corp. journal entries that cannot be transitioned to the Shared Service Center (SSC) and manual journal entries as needed
· Review foreign affiliate monthly trial balances for reasonableness
· Run Allocations, Translations and Consolidations
Research and resolve issues that arise during close process
Annual Audit
· Facilitate/manage audit preparedness process
Prepare audit schedules
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA preferred
· 5-8 years of previous experience in accounting field
· Hands-on experience with rates of return, depreciation, working capital and investments. Familiar with each of the line items of common financial reports, as well as varied financial factors that impact the organization’s bottom line. Familiar with major financial instruments available in the market. Able to recognize and analyze problems with financial methods and procedures.
· In depth knowledge and experience with a full range of financial record keeping tools. Creates and implements organizational standards, methods, and procedures for financial record keeping.
· Extensive experience using a variety of financial report writing tools. Contributes to the updating or establishment of organizational standards for financial reports.
· Basic understanding of the purpose and intent of tax laws and regulations.
· Hands-on experience collecting and preparing required budget information. Understands the functions and features of budgeting tools.
· Extensive experience developing and implementing accounting practices based on GAAP. Identifies, recommends, and implements specific interpretations of GAAP. Monitors industry experiences with accounting methods, tools, and techniques.
· Significant experience managing enterprise-wide general ledger processing. Understands G/L considerations for multi-national or global environments.
Hands-on experience using standard costing methods.
