The Sr. Application Developer will apply technical expertise / capabilities and Java / J2EE development skills to design and develop efficient application/software solutions, based upon client's business requirements
Analyze customer requirements
Perform all programming functions to accomplish specific application solution requirements
Design (or modify) systems to accomplish functions in compliance with the Software Development Life Cycle framework
Verify the accuracy and validity of all software developed, including preparations of sample test data and the execution of program, job stream, and system testing
Prepare all required documentation indicating system functionality.

Consultants hired into GBS Public Sector will typically be located in an IBM office or at an IBM client site primarily in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In many cases, relocation to the Washington, DC area is required & is not reimbursable. However, we do have opportunities that require residence in other strategic locations in the USA . While most projects are in the DC metro area, Consultants must be able to travel to projects that are in the DC Metro area and to those projects located outside the local area. Some projects do require up to 100% travel for an extended period of time that is generally < 1 year.

Required
- High School Diploma/GED
- At least 6 years experience in application development for large I/T teams, including COTS integration/implementation
- Basic knowledge in knowledge of and experience applying Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) framework
- At least 3 years experience in Java/Linux based development
- At least 2 years experience in at least one of: WebServices using WebLogic, BPEL, BPMN using WebMethods, archival and retrieval using MarkLogic, XPath and Xquery, Syst Adm for WebMethods, WebLogic, MarkLogic
- Readiness to travel Up to 1 day a week
- U.S. citizenship required
- English: Fluent
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 8 years experience in application development for large I/T teams, including COTS integration/implementation
- At least 4 years experience in multiple technical elements of environment: Linux and Windows based server env with large scale storage (e.g., 200+TBs), LDAP, custom J2EE and COTS appli, networked env with federal regulations
- At least 4 years experience in NetApps, MarkLogic, Oracle DB, Orbeon Forms, Vivisimo Velocity, WebMethods, XFORMS, Alfresco, EMC Documentum, Oracle BEA Weblogic, JBoss, TomCat, HP Opsware, FOOKES Aid4Mail and Hummingbird (OpenText)
- At least 2 years experience in ITIL Foundation in IT Service Management or ITIL Intermediate Level Cert
- At least 4 years experience in Rational Unitifed Process (RUP)
- At least 3 years experience in Rational Tools
