The Financial Management Associate (FMA) is a dedicated resource that is an expert in the firm¿s current and future state engagement information management systems. While overall responsibility for engagement economics rests with the client-serving executive, the FMA both relieves the client-serving executive of the effort associated with engagement information management by independently managing the engagement information processes, and provides a ready resource for financial data and analysis.  Specific duties and responsibilities include:  interacting with clients to establish client and engagement records, developing and monitoring engagement economics, analyzing inventory levels, supervising other FMA/FA and administrative staff (as needed), overseeing the collection of accounts, autonomously executing engagement information management, initiating client invoicing and creating ad hoc reports.
Develops client economic measures.
The FMA works closely with the client-serving executive to price the engagement and to develop the planned engagement measures (i.e., realization, profitability, etc.). As the engagement information management systems expert, the FMA determines and recommends the optimal economic measures to be used in monitoring specific engagements
Monitors client economic measures.
The FMA independently monitors actual results against planned measures and informs both the client-serving executive aand the ADF of any material variances. This financial review is conducted on an ongoing basis and includes analyzing project time and expense charges, completing any corrections, analyzing interoffice purchased time, initiating debit/credit memos as required, and challenging engagement ERPs and reserve balances.  Determines the billing and collections best practice for each client engagement. Presents recommendation to client service executive. The FMA is the process and best practice expert. The FMA proactively determines (and communicates with other FMAs) billing and collection best practices. The FMA builds a business case for involved parties to implement best practices as opposed to the ""business as usual"" practices. Oversees the work of Financial Assistants (FAs) and administrative personnel (on an as needed basis).  The FMA leads a team of engagement information management professionals. Also provides training on the use of the engagement information management system. Approves recommended FA actions and solutions. Performs analysis of inventory balances. The FMA independently monitors inventory levels and both reports large aged balances to the client service executive (and the ADF) and proactively determines, recommends and implements an inventory solution. The FMA, based upon assigned authority level will independently determine appropriate actions to be taken in managing engagement inventories and reserves. The FMA should be knowledgeable of the reasons for, and work to minimize, abnormal inventory balances. Establishes and maintains client and engagement records and information.  As client service executives sell work to clients, the details of these engagements must be captured. The FMA proactively manages the client/engagement setup processes by determining the relevant information, preparing documents for the client acceptance and investigation processes, assisting with engagement letters and letters of understanding, and interfacing with clients and the Oracle Financial system to ensure proper client/engagement setup. Streamlines and standardizes the billing and collections processes to minimize revenue days. The FMA builds a business case for involved parties to implement best practices as opposed to the ""business and usual"" practices. Engages in Special Projects/Ad hoc requests.  The FMA gathers and interprets data and provides analysis upon request. Further, the FMA determines and obtains the information they need to proactively manage the information processes. This includes all forms of financial, profitability and exception reporting. Initiates client invoicing and monitors collections. The FMA initiates the invoicing process, proactively encourages billing for ""out-of-scope"" work, monitors client collections, and follows-up on past due invoices. The FMA works with the clients to resolve issues and facilitate collections.
