Department Overview

IT is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and support for the technology which constitutes the information and communications systems for Symantec. The mission of IT is to be a partner that delivers high value to the business, provides world class service, and showcases the use of our own products and services.

Responsibilities

• The individual will be a key member on the Enterprise Business Intelligence team within IT Organization and will focus on providing analytics and reporting services to various business units at Symantec.
• Will work closely with business users in understanding the data and reporting needs, quickly develop prototype, demo and make adjustments as needed.
• Will act as an analyst, power user and project manager to help produce Business Objects reports, XCelsius dashboards and QlikView dashboards on ad-hoc basis.
• Act as data consultant and subject matter expert for subject areas in Enterprise Data Warehouse(EDW) and Operational Data Store(ODS).
• Actively participate in evaluation of new BI tools technology and provide recommendations.
• Conduct periodic BI tool training as well as focused subject area training as it pertains to report and dashboard development.
• Should have the demostrated ability to project manage small initiatives from start to finish.
• Would be required to interface with high level executives for requirements analysis, design, prototyping and implementation via an outsourced IT delivery provider.

Qualifications

• 5 to 7 years of IT industry experience
• 5+ years experience with the design, development, and implementation of Business Intelligence and Data warehouse solutions
• 5+ years experience in Business Objects Universe development and report creation
• 2+ years experience in XCelsius dashboard development or QlikView dashboard technology
• Good understanding of Data warehouse methodologies including dimensional data modeling and Kimballs Star schema
• Strong working knowledge of relational databases and Informatica
• Strong in Excel and PowerPoint - ability to communicate data analysis results and give clear presentations
• Must present solutions to complex problems and have the ability to work independently
• Must have very strong analytic and technical skills
• Ability to communicate fluently with business users, technical people and management across the organization.
• Must have strong business analysis skills and ability to translate business needs into technical prototypes and solutions
• Must have the experience of project managing small initiatives from start to finish
• Must have the experience of working with a outsourced IT delivery provider
• Experience or exposure to Oracle Applications, Sales applications such as SFDC is a plus
• Ability to grasp, document and propose IT and business process improvements is a plus
