General Summary
This job is required to establish the skills needed to successfully transition to the federated Business Intelligence organizational model. The specific purpose of this role is to perform highly technical MicroStrategy tasks needed to develop, tune, maintain, and support reports and dashboards.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Microstrategy Report and Dashboard Development 70%.
- Serve as Pepperidge Farm's MicroStrategy expert, leading report and dashboard technical development and support activities.
- Work closely with Business Analyst in defining report and dashboard technical specifications and designs.
- Develop and test new or updated dashboards and reports.
- Coordinate design and development efforts with the central BI team to ensure alignment with technical and development methodology standards.
- Contribute to enterprise wide MicroStrategy software and server maintenance, including the formulation of strategies needed to maximize system performance and data integrity, while managing overall costs.
2. Operational Support work 30%.
- Perform problem assessment, resolution and documentation, and, performance and quality validation on new and existing reports and environments.
- Participate in requirements gathering and design for ongoing development projects.
- Conduct effective communication to Business Analysts and end users during trouble ticket resolution to ensure proper resolution.
- Work directly with BI business analysis and planning manager, business analysts, end user(s), development manager through ticket troubleshooting and resolution.
Job Complexity
- Span of Control: North American Data Warehouse (Order to Cash, Make To Ship, Account to Report)
- Business: PF, and other assigned business units, as applicable
- No direct reports
- Requires meetings and travel between Norwalk, CT and Camden, NJ offices.
- Highly sophisticated, global BI environment, with large data warehouse.
Job Specifications
Business competencies:
- Strong business functional knowledge (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, etc.).
- Strong ability to work with business analysts on creating technical designs and technical specifications for the reporting and project requirement.
- Ability to communicate and/or influence at the Manager/Director level.
- Ability to be an ongoing advocate to drive BI standardization, adoption, and acceptance.
- Ability to gather reporting technical requirements and conduct necessary analysis to determine required BI technical work.
Technical competencies:
- 5-6 years of MSTR Architect Project Design skills for large applications.
- 5-6 years of MSTR Advanced Reporting, Tuning and Administration.
- 2-3 years of current MSTR dashboard
- 5-6 years of Narrowcast segmentation performance tuning, command manager interface scripting.
- 2-3 years of MSTR freeform SQL.
- 5-6 years of database performance tuning for OLAP solutions with Oracle preferred.
- Expertise in data warehousing concepts such as star schema, transformation and loading processes. Strong Schema Modeling and excellent SQL Skills.
- Working knowledge of Informatica ETL tools required.
- Experience navigating SAP and troubleshooting SAP/data warehouse issues required.
- MSTR Certification required.
- 5 - 10 Years Overall IT Experience
- Ability to quickly learn and understand critical data/information needs in the business.
- Ability to investigate data and discover patterns.
- Experience in advanced analytics is preferred, e.g. simple data aggregation, statistical analysis, complex data mining, etc.
- Ability to conduct technical data validation between data warehouse and source system(s).

Minimum education required: BS is required. Graduate degree is preferred.

Working Conditions
Primary location in or around Norwalk, CT.
Travel Requirements: 10% due to coordination with the central Global BI team.
