DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Participate in custom development projects through the entire SDLC including requirements, design, development, testing, release, and maintenance.
· Develop reusable tools, frameworks and components that simplify the environment and that can be leveraged to speed development and minimize maintenance requirements.
· Champion the use of the practices defined in the SQL Server Database Development Standards throughout the department, and lead periodic efforts to refine and improve the processes.
· Proactively communicate about, and coordinate activities with Business units, Production Control, Infrastructure and other members of the Systems Development team.
· Perform sufficient testing to eliminate unintended downstream consequences, ensure data accuracy, and optimized performance.
· Manage the data development toolset and environments to ensure operational performance and team productivity.
· Follow SQL Server Database Development Standards to reflect industry best practices, tailored to the environment.
· Expand technical knowledge by attending in-house and/or external courses, and lead technical system reviews.
· Consult with business leaders to understand operational requirements & strategic direction. Using the language of business, explain current information availability and limitations, potential options and high-level costs.
· Provide QA support for internal projects as requested

ACCOUNTABILITY:
The incumbent is directly accountable to ensure that all custom development meets development & database standards, is scalable, maintainable and well documented; the work product is accurate and meets end user requirements; and that the data management architecture is robust.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelors degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and work experience
· 8+ years database development experience required; including data structure design/modeling, ETL coding, testing, and source control processes, deployment, and the creation of documentation; experience working with data warehouses and multidimensional databases required.
· Significant experience with MS SQL Sever 2005 (T-SQL/SQL Stored Procedures), or Oracle skills (PL SQL), SQL Server Management Studio, ConnectDirect, PGP, NDM, Monarch, AttachMate, Subversion source control, job schedulers and/or other data management/data integration tools. C# experience preferred.
· Experience working within development standards and a structured development process
· Excellent written and oral communications skills required
· Demonstrated project management skills
· Ability to prioritize own work and the work of others, multi-task, and meet deadlines
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Finance background strongly preferred
