About the Job

 

Position summary:   The Sr. Director, Life Sciences Industry Solutions position will report to the VP Marketing for the TIBCO Spotfire Division.  The scope of this position will include Spotfire’s existing products such as the Tibco Spotfire Platform, The S+ Platform, and other products in Tibco’s offerings that address the needs in the life sciences and healthcare arena.  The position will be measured based on the license and service revenue produced in the industry segment.

 

 

  • Industry segment strategy – Own the Life Sciences strategy and lead the execution for TIBCO Spotfire products and solutions in the industry.  Expand the segment focus and industry footprint from the current research-centric concentration into Clinical and beyond into to a broader healthcare strategy, by understanding key industry trends, the new market opportunities they represent, and the competitive landscape.
  • Product and solution definition – Articulate industry requirements and priorities to the product management functions to influence product and solution development and work with appropriate teams (internal or partners) to bring them to market.
  • Field enablement and sales support – Actively participate in customer visits to develop, test, and refine messaging and sales tools.  Work with sales team and management to identify and address weaknesses in the pipeline, messaging and sales tools.  Develop sales tools and training materials to improve sales productivity and effectiveness and lead the field organization.
  • Industry thought leadership -- Establish TIBCO Spotfire and yourself as a leader and innovator in the Life Sciences and Healthcare marketplace by establishing differentiated industry messaging, drive industry events, author articles and white papers, supporting customer meetings, blogging and leading the industry community site initiative.  Work with the PR teams to insert TIBCO and Spotfire into the healthcare debate.  Create a vision for TIBCO of the “tectonic” shifts on the horizon for the industry, to better prepare our products, solutions, capabilities, and story for the future.
  • Marketing program development and execution -- Define the marketing mix necessary to execute the go-to-market strategies around industry solutions and value propositions and help support the implementation with appropriate marketing teams.

 

  1. In collaboration with the Tibco Spotfire Marketing, Sales and Product development teams, provides leadership and strategic direction for the expansion the expansion of Tibco Spotfire into the Clinical Development and Health Care areas.  Leverages the current installed base in the Life Sciences segment.
  2. Consults with and serves as an interface with potential customers and internal teams for the purpose of insuring coordination in systems planning, development and implementation.
  3. Conducts assessments of the clinical informatics environment, synthesizes pertinent information, and identifies implications for planning and development of both, product enhancements and comprehensive analytical solutions for the clinical development area.  Provides periodic structured environmental assessment and recommendations relative to future direction for clinical informatics and the broader health care area.
  4. Conducts ongoing technology assessment of clinical information systems and products.
  5. Conducts research in health care informatics. Disseminates findings at major national meetings and in published peer-reviewed journals.
  6. Responsible for overall planning, development, and implementation of the Life Sciences and Health Care Informatics programs, products and services.
  7. Provides expert support  in the further development of the Tibco Spotfire platform and applications in the clinical development and broader health care area
    • Tracks and advises on industry standards and needs.
    • In collaboration with appropriate staff, advises on prototype development, coordinates/conducts prototype, alpha and beta testing.
    • Assists in communicating results of prototype development.
    • Serves as liaison with the staff and departments for the purpose of integrative program development with other programs and services

 

Professional/technical:

MS/Ph.D. level education required.  Extensive experience with the use of informatics in a clinical development or health care setting is required.  Extensive knowledge of current business analytics technology and applications is desirable.  Background and experience in a pre-clinical or clinical development setting at a major pharma/biotech or CRO organization is an advantage.

Analytical:

Must possess strong program development skills in order to develop innovative solutions in the life sciences and health care arena.  Must be able to analyze and assess needs in the pre-clinical and clinical development areas.

Communication:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential to provide technical and program leadership to internal and external stakeholders.  Must be able effectively communicate the strategic need and compelling business advantages of Tibco Spotfire in the Life Sciences and Health Care areas.

Has a comprehensive knowledge base in health care informatics, reflecting an understanding of historic, current and future trends in the field as well as the necessary managerial techniques and skills to apply that knowledge.
