Job Summary:
This Position is responsible for directing the operations of the machine shops in South San Francisco, CA and Shanghai, China and meeting budget, profit and process objectives established for the machine shop operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage all operations of the machine shops in South San Francisco, CA and Shanghai, China.
- Oversees and assures the set up and operation of all standard machines, including tool and die making, as well as general experimental machinery, recommending design changes in equipment, material and/or procedures as needed.
- Prioritizes and maintains work schedules based on production deadlines and ensures deadlines are met. Periodically checks machining operations to ensure operations are working to tolerance.
- Manage the activities of the entire machine shops in attaining daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual goals and objectives, which include but are not limited to: quality, productivity, scrap, rework, attendance, safety, workmanship, and on time delivery.
- Develops machine shop procedures in coordination with company standards and objectives.
- Develop suitable Efficiency and Quality control standards and methods to continuously improve efficiency and quality on the work site and improve customer service.
- Recommend, maintain and enforce all company policies and procedures to insure the consistent application of policy, efficient operations of the machine shops.
- Makes budgetary recommendations for capital expenditures and manpower for machine shop areas.
- Execute and / or direct the operation of other tasks or duties relative to UCT’s ongoing business that as assigned by senior management.
- Manage, and effectively resolve personnel problems, including potentially volatile situations, within the machine shops adhering to all company policies and procedures and with the assistance of Human Resources as needed.
- Communicate, and work effectively with other Managers, Supervisors and employees in attainment of the company’s common goals and objectives.
- Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong machine shop knowledge. Ability to focus on measurable results while managing multiple complex tasks;
- A strategic planner with high level of sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment to ensure to consistently meet or exceed standards of performance;
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent management/coaching abilities. High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit output
- Computer literacy; proficiency with MS Office suite.
Educational/Certification Requirement:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience, certifications, or training. Post graduate work desired.
Experience Requirement:
- Work Experience: 10+ years’ experience at the Senior Management level in manufacturing, machine shop, semiconductor capital equipment or related industry; Strong track record in developing successful long-term relationships at the senior management level; Extensive experience in managing projects, facilitating machine shop organizational effectiveness,
- Management Experience: At least 5 years’ experience managing personnel at all levels of the manufacturing or machine shop organization;
