Qualifications:

Job Responsibilities:

Install, maintain and troubleshoot industrial control systems, including instrumentation and power distribution equipment. Extensive experience with all platforms of Siemens PLC’s and operator interface systems. Perform basic and advanced PLC programming, troubleshooting, and program documentation. Install, maintain, update, and troubleshoot variable speed drives. Knowledge of Servo motors and drives. Install, maintain, and calibrate instrumentation equipment, including but not limited to PID controllers for temperature, level and flow control. Identify opportunities for automation to support continuous process improvement and plant safety initiatives. Provide engineering support to the project engineering group and manage minor capital projects. Have a working knowledge of the National Electrical Code to ensure safe installations.

Essential Duties:

Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling and assignment of personnel to work activities and verifying time worked for payroll purposes; planning, scheduling and monitoring assigned installation, maintenance and repair activities; requisitioning parts and supplies, and coordinating services with other departments to assure minimum downtime for production and maximum safety of employees.

• Has direct supervisory responsibility for assigned hourly skilled and semi-skilled craftsmen.
• Has latitude to exercise judgment and discretion on assigned installation, maintenance, and/or repair activities as to utilization of manpower, work in progress, etc., within established policies and procedures. Must obtain prior approval for deviations from policies and procedures and for changes in work schedules that affect production plans.
• Internal contacts involve administrative, management and/or professional personnel in production, customer services, quality control and employee relations to determine scheduling priorities on assigned projects and resolve personnel problems, etc.
• Functions as a driving force in leading the arc flash initiative.
• External contacts involve equipment and parts suppliers and construction/maintenance contractors.
• Significant problem solving situations involve effective utilization of personnel while assuring employee safety and minimum interruption of operations, analyzing and correcting malfunctioning equipment, and resolving employee relations situations.
• Responsible for implementation of 5S Goals specifically within the Department. Will work together with other Staff members to maintain and improve safety and housekeeping in all areas of the plant.
• Accountable for safety management of assigned personnel, to include completion of periodic safety audits/inspections of the work area; safety meetings; thorough investigation of incidents reported including OSHA recordable and near misses; evaluation of training needs on a continuing basis.

Education, Knowledge and Skills Required:

Requires a four-year degree in electrical engineering, plus 5 years of experience in a specialized trade, hands-on experience that provides a thorough knowledge of the skills utilized in maintenance activities. Knowledge and experience in Six Sigma or other Operational Excellence tools, a plus.
