Department Description: Professional & Commercial Radio & Accessories is a department within the Enterprise Mobility Solutions business responsible for commercial radio solutions and global accessory solutions for all radio businesses including APCO, Tetra, PCR. This position is with the global accessory team.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Candidate will have 2 areas of responsibility. First, candidate will be responsible for investigation of new technologies for 2 way radio accessory products ranging from biometric sensors to dual microphone noise reduction technologies to thin displays to wireless connectivity technologies. Goal of these technology roadmap studies will be to define how the technologies can form solutions with existing and future 2 way radio and accessory solutions, identify high level performance expectations as well as risks and/or limitations, such that the concepts can be properly prioritized for in depth feasibility. The second area of responsibility will be to define impact of current and changing regulatory standards, such as ATEX and FM2009, to new accessory designs as well as legacy accessory designs. In this responsibility, the candidate will become the regulatory expert for worldwide accessory engineering design teams.

Knowledge Skills: development experience with embedded systems required

development experience with GPS location systems from embedded design to system level applications desired

development experience with biometric sensors and related algorithm development desired

knowledge of and experience with DSP audio algorithm processing desired

experience with audio measurement systems such as SoundCheck desired

experience with Bluetooth peripheral development and Bluetooth profiles desired

working knowledge of Cadence, ADS (simulation), or similar tools; statistical basics understanding desired

practical knowledge of major radio system (APCO Proj 25, Tetra, TRB) voice and data capabilities desired

ability to take high level goals and direction and translate into meaningful plans with minimal supervision required

ability to communicate clearly with senior management (sr director, vice president level) both verbally and in written context (email, presentations) required

Some travel required for customer, factory (Mexico, Penang Malaysia, China) and/or next generation radio platform development (Plantation FL, Copenhagen, Penang) required

Basic Qualifications: bachelors degree
3+ years experience in electrical or hardware design
must have experience with one of the following: audio, dsp, bluetooth, sensors, gps, digital circuitry
